Advanced Directives

It is the policy of Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Park Ten to not follow Advanced Directives. Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Park Ten is an outpatient surgical facility designed and equipped to provide surgical services to healthy patients. In the event of a complication, Memorial Hermann Surgery Center Park Ten will take all necessary emergency action to preserve life and if necessary will transport the patient to the nearest hospital where a complete evaluation and subsequent care may be provided.

What are Advanced Directives?

The State of Texas defines Advanced Directives under the Health and Safety Code, Title 2, Subtitle H, Chapter 166, Subchapter A: This provision states that the individual has the right to an Advanced Directive. “Directive” means that an instruction made under Section 166.032, 166.034 or 166.035 to administer, withhold, or withdraw life-sustaining treatment in the event of a terminal or irreversible condition. “Qualified patient” means a patient with a terminal or irreversible condition that has been diagnosed and certified in writing by the attending physician.
